Telfast (Allegra) Non-Drowsy (second generation)

Once-a-day Non-drowsy antihistamine. Fast acting 24 hour treatment for seasonal allergies (hayfever).

Telfast (commonly know as Allegra in the US) is a fast acting non-sedating antihistamine. Telfast (Allegra) is designed to relieve the symptoms of hayfever (seasonal allergic rhinitis), and allergies (either indoor or outdoor). Typically these symptoms will include sneezing, blocked or runny nose, watery eyes and red sore eyes. Telfast (Allegra) accomplishes this by blocking the actions of histamines in the body, hence the term antihistamines.

Purpose:
Telfast (Allegra) is also effective in relieving the symptoms associated with hives or itchy skin rash (urticaria) including swelling related to allergy, swelling related to hives, itchy skin rashes and itch caused by hives.

As a result of Telfast (Allegra) being a non-sedating anti-histamine it will not make you drowsy or slow down your reactions times allowing you to go about your activities as normal.

Active Ingredient:
Each capsule contains:
Fexofenadine Hydrochloride 60mg, 120mg or 180mg.

Dosage:
The active ingredient in Telfast (Allegra) is called fexofenadine hydrochloride and each capsule contains either 60mg, 120mg or 180mg or enough for 24 hours protection against symptoms.

60mg protects for 12 hours of symptom relief whereas 120mg and 180mg protect for up to 24 hours of symptom relief.

Contraindications:
Do not take telfast if you have had an allergic reaction to fexofenadine or terfenadine (Teldane).

Warning:
Medicines have benefits and some have risks. Always read the label and use only as directed. If symptoms persist or you have side effects see your healthcare professional.

You should inform your doctor or pharmacist if: You are, or might be pregnant, You are breast-feeding, You are taking other medications or you have any allergies to any other medicines, foods, preservatives or dyes. It is recommended to leave 2 hours between taking telfast and antacids containing aluminum and magnesium hydroxide.

Do not use during pregnancy or lactation except on medical advice. Do not take antacids within 2 hours of taking Telfast.

What to do in case of an overdose:
If you think that your or someone else may have taken to much TELFAST (even if there are no signs of discomfort or poisoning such as dizziness, drowsiness and dry mouth)-contact your doctor or poisons information centre, or go to casualty dept at your nearest hospital.
